Job description

Talent Partner | Fast Growth Scale Up | Manchester

Harmonic get great people and great organisations to work in tune together. Following a bumper 2021 and with big plans for the New Year, Harmonic are looking for a Talent Partner to join us during this exciting period of growth. This a great opportunity for seasoned talent acquisition specialist to shape the future direction of one of the UK's most exciting start-ups.

As Talent Partner you will lead the internal talent acquisition function for Harmonic Finance and Harmonic Operations in the United Kingdom and USA. Working in a luxury and vibrant co-working space, you will join a values-driven non-corporate environment playing an integral part in building on and maintaining our collaborative and dynamic company culture as we grow over the next year.

About Harmonic:

Harmonic supply the finance and operations professionals who make our clients brilliant. Focussing on filling roles ranging from CCFOs through to Operations Directors, we work with some of the most exciting organisations in Europe, ranging from ground-breaking technology start-ups and record labels through to major fashion labels, vegan food start-ups, leading furniture designers and media businesses. The recurring theme across our customers is 'non-corporate' businesses: if a company aren't innovative and values-driven, then they aren't the right fit for us.

Led by Charlie Walker, the youngest-ever recipient of the prestigious Recruitment International 'Entrepreneur of the Year Award' and a judge for the Great British Business Awards, Harmonic is our founder's second business (having built his first to a £30 million turnover operation aged just 24 back in 2008). Charlie is also regarded as a thought leader within the London business community and is often asked to speak on topics including Leadership and Values in Business. He and his co-founder Fin Glanvill are passionate about operating working cultures where values underpin everything. And where colleagues are rewarded for what they have contributed to the growth of the business.

Our values are at the core of what we do and following a challenging couple of years for everyone we have doubled down on our commitment to the wider community and commitment to giving our people the support they need inside and outside of the world of work. Harmonic are proud to sponsor one of London's leading mental health charities - GetAhead - and make sure that everyone gets the day off to attend their annual festival at Omeara in London Bridge! This is alongside support tools, coaching and access to counselling services.

We have a very active social scene. Our social community provides new colleagues with a supportive environment within which to learn the ropes and to build relationships with colleagues. Increasingly as restrictions lift we begun to have our weekly drinks and will soon be regularly attending gigs and flying to international music festivals (most recently Nova Batida in Lisbon) paid for by the company.

We have achieved some exceptional growth over the last 5 years. With the launch of our US business in Boston at the start of this year, and the opening of our Manchester office in Summer, there are some great opportunities for employeess to work not just across the UK, but to live and work overseas too!

The Role and Responsibilities:

  • You will lead our internal talent acquisition function for Harmonic Finance and Harmonic Operations in the United Kingdom and USA
  • You will support the senior leadership to execute the talent strategy to deliver in excess of 20 hires for 2022. This will include partnerships and sponsorship initiatives
  • You will partner with our marketing team to help build our employer brand, and lead on specialist projects
  • You will partner with and manage colleagues, focusing on culture and retention of talent to ensure good long-term outcomes
  • You will manage the Harmonic Community, building on and maintaining our values-driven company culture
  • You will understand Harmonics three core values: Knowledge, Respect and Community - recruiting candidates that adhere to these values and our company culture, not just those that may generate revenue

What we need to see (Essential):

  • A desire to work in a values-driven non corporate work environment
  • A strong background working within a internal talent acquisition team
  • Experience having supervised or managed other colleagues in a talent/ HR capacity
  • Fantastic verbal and written communication skills
  • A good educational background, and an appreciation of sharing our values

What we need to see (Desirable):

· Experience working within a start-up/scale-up business

Work environment and our vales:

Let's make no bones about it: we expect high standards. Harmonic is going places. However, while we expect our colleagues to apply themselves, we also pride ourselves on being model employers. Our working environment is supportive and empathetic, with advice and coaching on hand when needed outside of our regular review process. Above all, our three core values: Knowledge, Respect and Community aren't just there for PR purposes, they underpin everything we do internally as a business, as well as externally.

It's important to us that you're able to work comfortably and express your own personality. Whilst based in Manchester, you will also have the opportunity to visit and work from our London office based out of Labs, Camden- voted London's most vibrant workspace no less- where we work alongside some of Europe's most exciting creative and technology businesses.
